Yoga is one of those activities that is not spoken of widely. I use to wrestle at the high school level and as well as many years before that, and during those years I never heard of yoga. It wasn’t until I graduated high school and entered into my college courses that I realize the importance of yoga. I understand that many people don’t find interest in yoga for whatever reason; however, in this post I want to share the benefits of yoga, and how it is changing my life.

  • Yoga puts me back in touch with who I am.

Whenever I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed by the day ahead, I stop and think about my yoga practice and how awesome it is that it calms me down and prepares me for the day. It takes a lot of courage to do yoga every day because it’s like a workout. We must exercise at a minimum 20 minutes every day, and the problem is nobody likes to be physically challenged.
  • Yoga teaches me to form good habits.

Not everybody knows that the secret to success is forming healthy habits. I recommend that you search around the app store to find a good practice app that will help you keep track of your daily habits. Now, a habit app is different than a calendar app. I use my calendar for things that I need to get done in a day or that day that doesn’t regularly happened every day. Somewhere between 30 and 60 days is the sweet spot for building healthy habits. If we can just make it through this time frame, we should have a good practice of disciplining ourselves to do these important tasks. Put yoga down as one of your daily habits.
  • What yoga app should you choose?

I absolutely positively am so sure that I love the app called FitStar Yoga. This app changed my whole outlook on yoga and taught me how to practice it at the beginner level. For someone who doesn’t know much about yoga that this is a great app it cost me, I think around $10 a month, but it is so worth it. Yoga can significantly impact your life. I always wondered what I would do if suddenly FitStar decided that they want to shutdown this app. Where would I turn too? Well, I would probably go YouTube-ing and try to find some yoga routines to follow along with. The beautiful thing about this app is that it shows you a wide variety of yoga positions. You can become more familiar with the yoga community and participate in other people’s yoga routines if need be elsewhere.
  • How am I so sure that yoga has changed my philosophy about life?

Well for starters when I first started doing yoga I was a college student with very little money and a dream to be successful. Somewhere along the line, I heard that successful people do yoga, and so naturally, being a millennial, I researched the app store looking for different yoga apps. After looking through reviews of numerous apps, I finally found FitStar Yoga, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Moreover, yoga calms me down a lot. I come from a military background and found that yoga brings me back to my true self; meaning I’m a lot more aware of my surroundings because of yoga -even more so than when I was in the military.

-One more thing I’ve noticed is I can see people who are stressed out about life. And when I think I’m stressed out about life, even when I’m practicing my yoga daily, I can see other people who are borderline, on edge, about to go chaotic. Certainly, it takes a lot of self-control to hold ourselves back from making wrong decisions. This is just a little bit of insight into what I’ve noticed with my rigorous yoga practice.

Lastly, yoga is not for everyone, and I’m not just saying that because I do it repetitively, I’m saying it because I can sense that people don’t give a darn or they lack interest in the subject, and don’t see how it could possibly provide value to their life. From what I’ve seen most people would rather do something easier and try to get the same amount of quality in their life. To be clear yoga is not easy. It is very hard and physically demanding, but not in the way that we’re conditioned to think. Comparatively, I’ve wrestled for most of my life, and that sport is hard, but yoga is a stretching and breathing type of workout which requires a lot of balance and patience!
In conclusion, I want you to be your best self, no matter if you know me or not, because I believe the world can be a better place if more people practice yoga. The more that we know about ourselves and the more that we become self-aware, the happier we will be because we are aware of who we are, and who we are not; and how we can make an impact in this world.
Thank you so much for reading this post. May this world be a better place with you in it.
